Part 4: AND THEN THERE IS YOU

The Finest Humans on the Face of the Earth! The Hero to every parent who has had to spend a long grueling summer with their very own demon children! The patron saint to the student transportation industry and a precious cargo delivery specialist!

It's YOU! You are the final element of student behavior on the school bus. It actually mostly comes down to you and the way you handle a code orange, bullying and just in general, loud obnoxious children.

Now don't get it twisted Mabel.

I'm not suggesting that you are to blame in any way and it's not your first, second or even third biggest responsibility as a bus driver.

(By the way, your first, second and third biggest responsibility is driving your bus safely).
I certainly don't mean to BLAME YOU for student's acting a fool on your bus. You've got enough on your multi-tasking hands in just operating a 40 footish long vehicle through hectic traffic, along narrow streets, rough terrain and in mostly unideal weather conditions.

That's basically the job description.

YOU ARE AMAZING!

But...
Possibly, maybe sort of, we have some very slight and I do mean the tiniest most minuscule part of the responsibility of the behavioral issues on our bus.

Maybe sort of??
Kinda???

Let me explain.

The median age of your average school bus driver is 55, which means most of us are at least two generations removed from our student passengers.

We grew up in an era where children respected their elders, but as we already discussed, today's generation doesn't necessarily respect you just because you're older According to today's generation, Respect Must Be Earned!

I know, right?
Mind blown!

But the Good News is...

Their respect can be easily earned! Just remember FFFC

FFFC
stands for:

FRIENDLY
FAIR
FIRM
CONSISTENT

Spoiler Alert:
We will be taking a deeper dive into FFFC later on but for now let's talk about "Pop Corn."
