Part 3: CONFUSING EXPECTATIONS
Students receive conflicting expectations when it comes to classroom behavior and school bus behavior. This explains the difference in their attitudes and behavior especially after a long day of school.
From a very young age, students know and understand EXACTLY what is expected of them in the classroom. They are to sit quietly and learn. They are also aware that bad behavior has repercussions and won't be tolerated. They have respect for their teachers and the teacher's authority over them.

In the classroom they are there to Learn!
After a long day of sitting still and being quiet, the school bus is a student's first chance of letting off pent up energy and expressing excitement.
They want to stand up, loudly talk to friends, act up and push back against authority (you). They see the bus driver as, "just another adult" and not someone that they need to respect. They are very aware of the bus driver's limited ability to spot their bad behavior and lack of authority to administer punishment.
